Donations to Support Underserved Communities
Strengthen the connection between mental health professionals and the community they serve by supporting the Diversity Training and Psychoeducation Program, which strives to:
Reduce Barriers and Social Stigmas
We believe that mental health is less stressful, more obtainable, and easier to understand when trained clinicians meet and teach in the community where people from diverse backgrounds will be empowered to engage in open conversations about mental health.
Increase Access Through Awareness
This program will teach clinicians how to invite people into psychoeducation as their first mental health experience, create a safe community space that protects their cultural values, and eventually lead individuals to additional support if needed.
Foster Community Support Systems
Your donations will contribute to the development of a culturally responsive and effective support system for individuals facing mental health and economic challenges in the San Francisco Bay region.
Together, we can make a meaningful impact.

Glide Family Resource Center (FRC)
Theresa Calderon
FRC Manager
Blue Humming began providing services to GLIDE’s Family Resource Center (FRC) since its inception 10 years ago. BHT’s work with GLIDE’s FRC has enabled families to come together in community for healing through the different modes of group therapy they offer. BHT has provided art, drama, and somatic group therapy for GLIDE families. BHT has also provided GLIDE staff from various GLIDE programs with clinical consultation, psychoeducation, and training to strengthen our ability to respond to the complex needs of families living in the Tenderloin. Currently, BHT is also providing individual and couple’s short-term counseling to GLIDE FRC participants, which are incredibly difficult resources to secure for marginalized communities. BHT is culturally responsive and able to bridge different communities together by providing holistic services that meet the complex needs of GLIDE’s diverse service populations. GLIDE staff and its program participants routinely report their positive experiences with BHT and share the positive impact resulting from BHT’s direct services. BHT is a strong and dedicated partner providing critical mental health services for many vulnerable families. BHT’s support of GLIDE’s families, children, staff, and the Tenderloin community is very important, and we look forward to our continued work together.

Why Psychoeducation is Essential
Psychoeducation plays a crucial role in fostering mental health competency within workplaces and communities. By providing individuals with the knowledge and skills to understand mental health, psychoeducation promotes awareness, reduces stigma, and empowers people to take proactive steps in managing their well-being.
Importance in Workplaces and Communities
- Increased Awareness: Psychoeducation raises awareness about mental health issues, helping individuals recognize signs and symptoms in themselves and others. This understanding is vital for early intervention and support.
- Skill Development: It equips people with practical tools and coping strategies to manage stress, anxiety, and other mental health challenges. This proactive approach can lead to healthier responses in high-pressure environments.
- Enhanced Communication: By promoting open discussions around mental health, psychoeducation fosters a culture of empathy and support, encouraging individuals to seek help when needed without fear of judgment.
- Reduced Stigma: Educating individuals about mental health helps break down misconceptions and stigma, creating an environment where mental health is prioritized and discussed openly.
Long-term Benefits for Individuals and Organizations
- Improved Mental Well-being: Individuals who engage in psychoeducation are more likely to develop resilience and better coping mechanisms, leading to improved overall mental health.
- Higher Productivity: Organizations that prioritize mental well-being often see increased employee productivity, lower absenteeism, and reduced turnover rates. A mentally healthy workforce is more engaged and motivated.
- Stronger Communities: In communities, psychoeducation can lead to increased social support networks, fostering a sense of belonging and connection that enhances overall community well-being.
- Cost Savings: Investing in mental health education can lead to significant cost savings for organizations by reducing healthcare costs and improving employee performance.
- Sustainable Culture Change: By integrating psychoeducation into the fabric of organizational and community practices, a sustainable culture of mental well-being can be cultivated, benefiting current and future generations.
Empower yourself, your family, and your community
